Senior Backend Engineer (Product)

Location: Bulgaria; remote or hybrid work across Europe

What you will do

• Build and evolve robust, scalable financial infrastructure and product features.
• Architect and develop distributed, data-intensive backend systems in production.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, frontend, mobile, ML/AI, and QA engineers on end-to-end solutions.
• Evaluate product needs and technical trade-offs, challenging assumptions where appropriate.
• Take ownership of customer outcomes, including investigating customer issues and improving team processes.
• Maintain quality through automated testing, code reviews, and security best practices.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional backend development experience with a product engineering mindset.
• Excellent knowledge of .NET and C#.
• Hands-on experience architecting and evolving distributed systems in production.
• Experience building data-intensive applications and understanding regulated environments.
• Strong collaboration, business acumen, ownership, and product-thinking skills.
• Clear, concise English communication across technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Curiosity about frontend, mobile, ML models, analytics, and adjacent engineering domains.
• Experience with React, Swift, Kotlin, Python, ML frameworks, Playwright, or Appium.
