Senior Backend Engineer (Go) — Japan

Location: Tokyo, Japan; Workplace: Hybrid

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services powering core products and platforms.
• Develop event-driven systems and scalable microservices using Go and Kafka.
• Build and operate containerized cloud-native applications with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Drive architecture improvements focused on performance, resilience, and maintainability.
• Monitor, debug, and continuously improve production services while participating in on-call support.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, design, and QA teams and contribute to code reviews, testing, and CI/CD practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience with Go or a similar language.
• Strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and event-based communication.
• Experience or familiarity with cloud infrastructure, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of observability, monitoring, performance optimization, and production troubleshooting.
• Business-level Japanese proficiency is required.

Nice to have

• Experience in gaming, payments, commerce, AdTech, or offer monetization platforms.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka, Redis, cloud platforms, ClickHouse, Postgres, or similar technologies.
• Experience building internal platforms or developer-facing tools.
