Senior Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: Tel Aviv, Israel; hybrid work with three days in the office and two days at home

What you will do

• Design and implement high-performance backend services and APIs for core AI products.
• Build scalable, resilient production infrastructure that integrates LLM capabilities into backend architectures.
• Connect AI research with production software, focusing on latency, reliability, and observability.
• Establish engineering standards through architecture design, code reviews, and distributed-systems best practices.
• Develop LLM evaluation frameworks for assessing and integrating new AI models into production workflows.
• Understand product challenges and make efficient software architecture and development decisions.

Requirements

• 6+ years of hands-on backend software development experience building complex distributed systems.
• Strong expertise in Python, modern backend technologies, and API design.
• Production experience developing LLM-based products, including agents or RAG systems.
• System architecture experience in cloud environments such as AWS or GCP, including CI/CD workflows.
• Deep knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, automated testing, and Clean Code principles.
• Technical leadership experience, including design leadership, cross-team collaboration, mentoring, fluent English, and authorization to work in Israel.

Nice to have

• Experience with vector databases and LLM observability tools.
• Conversational AI or dialogue management experience.
• Familiarity with MLOps and monitoring LLM performance in production.
• Background in data science or data engineering.
