Senior Category Buyer - Indirect Buyer (Procurement)

Location: Pontiac, Illinois, United States. Onsite five days per week; travel is less than 10%. Relocation is available.

Salary: $112,710–$169,060 per year.

What you will do

• Act as the primary procurement partner for the Pontiac facility, supporting Manufacturing, Facilities, Engineering, and Product Group operations.
• Support sourcing, supplier selection, contract negotiations, and procurement execution across indirect spend categories.
• Manage supplier relationships, performance, issue resolution, pricing discussions, and contract administration.
• Support categories including perishable tooling, MRO, manufacturing equipment, facility maintenance, janitorial and grounds services, and site operational support.
• Use spend data and supplier performance metrics to identify cost reduction, cost avoidance, and operational efficiency opportunities.
• Drive Joint Process Improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with purchasing practices, procedures, and procurement governance.

Requirements

• Knowledge of procurement processes, sourcing, supplier management, and contract administration.
• Experience supporting supplier negotiations and managing commercial relationships.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to influence decisions and drive outcomes without direct authority.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred, with progressive experience in procurement, category management, sourcing, or supplier management.
• Must work onsite in Pontiac five days per week; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environments.
• Experience with indirect categories such as MRO, tooling, facilities, services, or manufacturing equipment.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, or supplier development methodologies.
