Company

hirify.global develops and manufactures commercial space stations, spacecraft, satellites, and other human-rated space infrastructure.

What you will do

  • Provide materials and processes engineering expertise for metallic materials used in spacecraft structures, mechanisms, pressure systems, propulsion systems, and other flight hardware.
  • Select and qualify aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, nickel-based, copper, and other aerospace alloys.
  • Develop and maintain material and process specifications, engineering standards, acceptance criteria, material allowables, and process controls.
  • Guide manufacturing processes including machining, forging, casting, heat treatment, welding, brazing, additive manufacturing, and surface treatments.
  • Plan and execute material characterization and process qualification testing, including mechanical and physical property evaluation.
  • Lead failure analysis, root-cause investigations, nonconformance and MRB activities, supplier technical evaluations, and cross-functional program reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience level varies by grade: 0 years for Engineer I, 2+ years for Engineer II, or 5+ years with demonstrated technical leadership for Senior Engineer.
  • Experience with metallic materials, aerospace manufacturing processes, material characterization, process qualification, failure analysis, or root-cause investigations.
  • Knowledge of material allowables, fatigue and fracture behavior, corrosion prevention, environmental compatibility, and aerospace standards such as NASA, AMS, ASTM, AWS, or MIL.
  • Must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing because the role provides access to information and items subject to U.S. export controls.
  • Ability to work onsite in Long Beach, travel up to 30%, work overtime or weekends for critical milestones, and lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant engineering or materials discipline.
  • Five or more years supporting metallic materials and processes for spacecraft, launch vehicles, aircraft, pressure vessels, propulsion systems, or other high-reliability hardware.
  • Deep expertise in welding and joining, heat treatment, fatigue and fracture mechanics, metallography, microscopy, mechanical testing, or fracture analysis.
  • Experience with NADCAP or similarly controlled aerospace special processes.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, hardware-first aerospace environment and mentoring junior engineers.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time exempt employment with company equity.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents.
  • Paid time off, paid parental leave, disability insurance, and life insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan, ClassPass credits, personalized mental healthcare, and employee discounts.
  • Onsite food perks including snacks, coffee, drinks, dinner meals, and subsidized lunch.
