Metallurgical Engineer

Location: Portland, Oregon, United States; laboratory-based onsite role

Salary: $70,000–$75,000 per year

What you will do

• Provide analytical support and conduct metallurgical testing to meet customer requirements.
• Perform microhardness testing, microstructural examination, grain size evaluation, and other assigned tests.
• Operate optical microscopes and other metallurgical tools, equipment, and instrumentation.
• Maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair laboratory equipment as needed.
• Coordinate input from other departments and prepare accurate, timely technical reports.
• Act as a technical resource and resident expert for colleagues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in materials science engineering or metallurgy.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of metallurgical specifications and testing methodologies.
• Ability to read and understand scientific documentation and ASTM standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite in the Portland laboratory environment; this is not a design role.
