Principal Manufacturing Systems Engineer (Ignition)

Location: Lafayette, Colorado, United States; onsite 4-day work model

Salary: $123,200–$184,800 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

• Design, develop, validate, and support manufacturing digital architectures for Smart Digital Factory initiatives.
• Develop Ignition Perspective and Vision applications, HMIs, operator interfaces, real-time dashboards, alarms, notifications, and reports.
• Connect PLCs and industrial devices to Ignition using OPC-UA and integrate manufacturing systems with MES and ERP platforms.
• Build SQL databases, complex queries, historian systems, and production data collection solutions.
• Create KPI dashboards covering OEE, downtime, throughput, scrap, and first-pass yield.
• Partner with manufacturing engineering, IT, controls, quality, and production teams to troubleshoot connectivity, deploy secure architectures, and support equipment launches.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with at least 5 years, or a PhD with at least 3 years.
• Experience developing manufacturing systems and digital architectures that connect plant-floor equipment with enterprise environments.
• Working knowledge of PLCs, industrial automation, and plant-floor equipment integration, including Allen-Bradley systems.
• Experience with SQL databases, data acquisition, manufacturing reporting, and industrial communications.
• U.S. work authorization is required; sponsorship is available for Principal-level roles and above where specialized expertise meets business needs.
• For degrees earned outside the United States, the degree must satisfy the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).

Nice to have

• Ignition Perspective and Vision development experience.
• Python scripting for automation, data processing, and system integration.
• Familiarity with MES, ERP, SCADA, historian platforms, and OT/IT integration.
• Knowledge of manufacturing cybersecurity and industrial networking best practices.
