Senior Accountant

Location: Hybrid in the Toronto office or remote from Costa Rica

Salary: CAD 95,000–108,000 per year, plus participation in a discretionary bonus plan

What you will do

• Prepare and post journal entries for month-end close, including fixed assets, inventory, prepaid expenses, and accruals.
• Own accounting processes end to end and improve related procedures.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, maintain subledgers, and complete tie-outs.
• Investigate and resolve GL and subledger discrepancies, including legacy acquisition-related entries.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, reporting, audits, and tax-related requests.
• Identify automation opportunities and participate in process improvement implementation and user acceptance testing.

Requirements

• University degree in Accounting.
• At least four years of accounting experience, including GL ownership and reconciliations.
• Strong demonstrated knowledge of US GAAP.
• Excellent Excel skills and willingness to learn new systems; NetSuite experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and deadline-management skills, especially during period-end close.
• Interest in using AI tools to automate routine work and improve analysis.

Nice to have

• CPA or similar designation with at least one year post-qualification experience.
• Audit background.
• Experience with GL cleanup and accounting process improvements.
