Sr Associate Scientist, Product Biochemistry

Location: On-site in Tarrytown, New York, United States; full-time standard business hours with on-site presence required for laboratory operations.

Salary: $80,300–$131,100 annually.

What you will do

• Develop analytical methods and purification protocols for therapeutic proteins and gene therapy vectors.
• Conduct biochemical and biophysical characterization to support development, regulatory submissions, and commercialization.
• Design experiments to enrich, purify, and characterize product variants, complexes, and high-concentration formulations.
• Apply design of experiments, advanced statistics, and risk assessments to optimize methods and processes.
• Operate and troubleshoot U/HPLCs, AKTA FPLCs, and capillary-based electrophoresis systems; maintain instruments and laboratory supplies.
• Document experiments, prepare protocols and technical reports, contribute to regulatory sections and publications, and present findings to internal groups.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Engineering, or a related field, with 4–6+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong laboratory skills in protein separation, purification, tangential flow filtration, and protein or product identification using mass spectrometry.
• Ability to work independently across multiple projects while collaborating effectively in a fast-paced R&D environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, initiative, and commitment to continuous learning.
• Ability to work on-site in Tarrytown, New York and support hands-on laboratory operations.

Nice to have

• Technical proficiency in automated FPLC or HPLC, including SEC, IEX, and affinity methods.
• Experience with capillary or microchip electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE, western blots, spectroscopy, or light scattering.
• Understanding of protein structure and function, mass spectrometry, immunology, or immunogenicity.
• Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry.
