Lead, Systems Engineer - Space Vehicle (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Lead space vehicle-level systems engineering for satellite programs from concept development through design, integration, testing, launch, and mission operations support.
• Develop, decompose, allocate, and manage spacecraft system requirements across subsystems and components.
• Coordinate technical work across payload, avionics, flight software, mechanical, thermal, power, propulsion, guidance and control, integration and test, and mission operations teams.
• Maintain space vehicle architecture, technical baselines, and interface definitions while leading system-level trades and performance analyses.
• Lead integration, verification, validation, test planning, technical reviews, risk mitigation, anomaly resolution, and readiness activities.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship while representing system-level priorities to customers, partners, program management, and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or a related STEM field with at least 9 years of relevant experience; alternatively, a graduate degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
• In lieu of a degree, at least 13 years of prior related experience.
• Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance; security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.
• Experience with spacecraft, satellite, or other complex aerospace system development at the system or vehicle level.
• Experience with requirements management, interface control, system integration, verification and validation, and technical baseline management.
• Ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams and communicate technical issues clearly to leadership and customers.

Nice to have

• Experience leading systems engineering for government, civil, or commercial satellite programs.
• Experience with spacecraft integration and test, environmental qualification, launch site operations, or on-orbit anomaly resolution.
• Familiarity with MBSE, requirements management tools, configuration management, and system-level performance analysis.
• Knowledge of orbital environment considerations, mission analysis, coverage and revisit trades, and space, ground, and launch segment interconnectivity.
• Active security clearance.
