Electrical Engineer (AI)

Location: Must be based in or able to work from Austin, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, or Seattle (Hybrid)

Compensation: $210,000 – $260,000 + Equity

What you will do

• Own the electrical design of the machine power path, including DC bus, inverters, motor drives, and amplifiers.
• Specify and integrate drives for high-speed hermetic motors, addressing thermal, switching, and insulation challenges.
• Design power and protection schemes for test benches and load banks to support full-rating machine testing.
• Manage electrical scope through EMC, harmonics, and arc flash compliance to ensure safe installation and operation.
• Establish and enforce electrical safe work practices for test cells involving live buses and stored energy.

Requirements

• Proven experience designing and building high-power converters or motor drives that have been successfully deployed.
• Experience integrating drives with motors and managing bus-sharing impacts.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex EMC, harmonic, or bearing-current issues at the root cause.
• Experience writing and enforcing electrical safe work practices in high-voltage environments.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-speed and magnetic-bearing drive systems.
• Background in electric propulsion or aerospace power systems (eVTOL, satellite EPS).
• Knowledge of 800 V class DC architectures and wide-bandgap devices (SiC, GaN).
