Senior/Staff Platform Engineer (AI)

Location: Primarily remote in the United States, with Virginia-based candidates strongly preferred; short-notice access to Herndon, Virginia is required.

Salary: $140,000–$200,000 base salary, plus up to a 25% annual bonus.

AI platform infrastructure is being extended into highly secure US Government environments while a US technical team grows.

What you will do

• Own and improve production Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure.
• Build and maintain infrastructure as code and repeatable deployment patterns.
• Manage provisioning, deployment, security, reliability, and operations.
• Adapt an existing platform for US Government and highly secure environments.
• Make technical decisions across infrastructure and deployment.
• Help establish technical capability as the US team grows while remaining hands-on.

Requirements

• US citizenship and eligibility to obtain a US Government security clearance are required.
• Strong experience owning production Kubernetes infrastructure.
• Hands-on cloud engineering experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, or comparable platforms.
• Strong infrastructure as code experience with Terraform, OpenTofu, Pulumi, or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience personally building, deploying, and operating production infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure security and reliability, with the ability to work autonomously as a senior individual contributor.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS GovCloud or similar government cloud environments.
• FedRAMP, US Government deployments, defence, or national-security technology experience.
• Experience with classified, disconnected, or highly regulated environments.
• An existing security clearance.
