Generator Technician

Location: Tinton Falls, New Jersey, United States; frequent travel to offsite locations and participation in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule.

Salary: $21.00–$27.00 per hour in New Jersey, depending on qualifications and experience.

What you will do

• Perform preventative maintenance, emergency service, and repairs on standby power generators.
• Diagnose and repair generator components and automatic transfer switches.
• Document equipment details, fuel types, test measurements, and service records.
• Perform start-ups and warranty work on power generation equipment.
• Complete maintenance and warranty paperwork and manage warranty parts.
• Maintain service-truck parts inventory and participate in the 24/7 on-call rotation.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience working with internal combustion engines and diesel, natural gas, gas, or propane fuel systems.
• Experience driving a service truck, managing inventory, and interacting with commercial or residential clients.
• Valid driver's license, minimum age of 21, and a satisfactory pre-employment and annual Motor Vehicle Record review.
• No driver's license suspension related to traffic accidents or violations and no at-fault accidents within the past 3 years.
• Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, AC and DC circuitry, and wiring schematics.
• Ability to travel to offsite locations and work around noise, heat, cold, electrical hazards, and potentially dangerous equipment.
