Senior/Staff Scientist (Biosensors)

Salary: $120,000–$170,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead the technical design, development, and optimization of amperometric and potentiometric biosensors.
• Develop sensors for detecting electrolytes, metabolites, and gases in clinical biofluids and biopharmaceutical samples.
• Apply electrochemistry, materials science, and surface chemistry to improve sensor performance, reliability, durability, use life, shelf life, and manufacturability.
• Design and conduct experiments, analyze complex datasets, and develop computational models and algorithms to improve performance and reduce read time.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to develop scalable processes, process controls, and production transitions.
• Partner with Regulatory and Quality teams on verification, validation, design controls, root-cause investigations, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Three to five years of relevant experience for Senior Scientist III or 5 to 7+ years for Staff Scientist.
• Experience developing in vitro diagnostic medical devices, particularly electrochemical sensors.
• Expertise with potentiometric or amperometric sensors, electrolytes, metabolites, gases, and PVC, polyurethane, or silicone-based sensing matrices.
• Experience with planar sensor fabrication, thick-film screen printing, dispensing technologies, or wafer-level processing.
• Proficiency with Excel, Python, Minitab, JMP, or comparable tools, plus familiarity with ISO 13485, ISO 9001, and FDA Quality System Regulation requirements under 21 CFR Part 820.
