Staff Attorney, AI Governance

Location: Hybrid in Los Angeles, New York, or San Mateo with onsite work three days per week; candidates based in Seattle, WA may be considered for a remote arrangement based on business needs.

Annual base salary: $170,000–$200,000, plus a 13% annual bonus target.

What you will do

• Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of hirify.global’s AI governance framework and related risk management processes.
• Conduct legal and regulatory analysis covering intellectual property, consumer protection, product liability, privacy, AI ethics, and emerging AI regulation.
• Review AI use cases and business initiatives to identify governance and ethical risks.
• Draft policies, guidance documents, governance artifacts, training materials, presentations, and stakeholder communications.
• Monitor global legal and regulatory developments affecting AI and prepare internal briefings.
• Partner with Legal, Privacy, Information Security, and business stakeholders to turn legal and policy requirements into practical guidance.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar is required.
• At least three years of legal experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, government agency, or combination thereof.
• Experience advising on technology-related legal matters, with strong legal research, analysis, drafting, and communication skills.
• Strong judgment, attention to detail, problem-solving, project management, and organizational abilities.
• Hybrid employees in Los Angeles, New York, and San Mateo must work onsite three days per week; Seattle-based candidates may be considered for remote work.

Nice to have

• Experience with technology, software, digital products, consumer-facing services, or emerging technology initiatives.
• Familiarity with AI-related legal risks, regulatory frameworks, risk assessments, and responsible innovation.
• Experience translating complex legal concepts into practical, business-oriented guidance.
• Experience coordinating matters across multiple businesses and jurisdictions.
