Senior Algorithm Engineer II (EO/IR Image Analysis)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite role. The position may require travel or off-site work as needed.

Base salary: $162,000–$243,000 USD annually. Total compensation, including equity: $194,500–$300,275 USD annually.

What you will do

• Develop, optimize, validate, and deploy EO/IR image-processing chains for real-time space-based sensor payloads.
• Build optical sensor modeling and simulation frameworks and synthesize mission imagery for machine-learning training and algorithm validation.
• Apply classical and deep-learning computer vision methods to detect and track low-SNR objects in EO/IR imagery.
• Collaborate with software and firmware teams to transition algorithms into high-performance real-time implementations.
• Maintain and improve deployed algorithms, troubleshoot fielded systems, and assess performance using complex EO/IR datasets.
• Document and present results to technical, non-technical, and government stakeholders and represent the organization in technical interchange meetings.

Requirements

• Relevant bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience, master's degree with 5+ years, or Ph.D. with 2+ years in a technical discipline and demonstrated image-processing or EO/IR experience.
• Strong experience designing, implementing, testing, and optimizing image-processing and computer-vision algorithms for EO/IR sensors.
• Experience with image stabilization and registration, 3-D multi-view camera modeling, pose reconstruction, object detection and tracking, and background suppression.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with image-system modeling and simulation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, leadership capabilities, and the ability to contribute to high-performance engineering teams.
• U.S. citizenship is required, and the position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Nice to have

• Strong mathematics background, especially linear algebra.
• Experience with deep-learning computer vision, space-based imaging systems, and EO/IR sensor calibration.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and experience across product development, integration, verification, and production transition.
• Technical or functional leadership experience and TS/SCI security clearance.
