Software Engineer, Computer Vision / Machine Learning (AI)

Location: Hybrid, requiring on-site work in the San Jose, California office three days per week. The role requires access to export-controlled information and eligibility under U.S. ITAR/EAR regulations. Hiring is currently available in specified U.S. states.

Salary: $212,000–$233,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, train, evaluate, and iterate on image processing models for ground processing and onboard flight systems.
• Build and own the image and machine learning data engineering foundation, including dataset workflows.
• Optimize algorithms and models for low-latency cloud execution and deployment to constrained edge and onboard environments.
• Develop and benchmark high-performance reference algorithms and implementations.
• Hand algorithms and models into the cloud serving stack and define requirements and acceptance criteria with mission and payload teams.
• Own unit, integration, verification, validation, and performance regression testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, applied mathematics, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of professional experience developing, shipping, and operating image computation or machine learning systems.
• Strong PyTorch and Python skills, including end-to-end model development and production-quality, tested, packaged code.
• Production experience deploying low-latency image computation models as containerized workloads on cloud infrastructure; AWS experience is preferred.
• Hands-on ML data engineering experience with dataset curation, labeling, versioning, and quality and performance measurement.
• Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance and meet U.S. export-control access requirements.

Nice to have

• Geospatial or remote-sensing imagery, including optical, infrared, or SAR data.
• Active learning, data-centric machine learning, or labeling workflows.
• Computer vision or image processing deployment to edge or embedded targets.
• GPU acceleration with CUDA, HIP, or similar technologies.
• CI/CD for containerized workloads and performance regression testing.
• Experience with space, aerospace, or other mission-critical software environments.
