AI/ML Engineer (Active TS/SCI)

Location: Dayton, Ohio, United States. Onsite and hybrid expectations are being finalized; candidates should be prepared to support work in Dayton if required.

What you will do

• Build and evaluate machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI solutions for federal mission use cases.
• Integrate AI/ML capabilities into software applications, APIs, services, data pipelines, and existing technical environments.
• Assess models and datasets for suitability, access requirements, technical feasibility, and mission value.
• Enable LLM and GenAI capabilities through repeatable workflows, interfaces, services, and approved access mechanisms.
• Prepare datasets and translate prototypes into scalable, reproducible, integrated, and deployable capabilities.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data engineers, technical leaders, product stakeholders, subject-matter experts, and mission users while creating documentation and runbooks.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance required.
• Hands-on foundation in applied machine learning or AI engineering, with experience progressing beyond theoretical exercises or isolated notebooks.
• Software development experience, preferably with Python, and familiarity with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or comparable ML frameworks.
• Experience in one or more applied AI areas, such as computer vision, natural language processing, generative AI, LLMs, predictive modeling, object detection, classification, or modeling and simulation.
• Experience working with datasets for model development and evaluation and collaborating across software, data, systems, and mission teams.
• Ability to support work in Dayton, Ohio if onsite or hybrid requirements are established.

Nice to have

• Experience with Hugging Face, Ollama, APIs, microservices, Docker, containers, cloud-native deployment, AWS, or Azure.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps, MLOps, model or data versioning, reproducible AI workflows, and production AI/ML pipelines.
• Experience with metadata management, model/provider catalogs, large-scale sensitive or regulated datasets, or controlled federal and national security environments.
• Collaboration with mission users, product owners, technical leadership, or government stakeholders.
