AI/ML Engineering Intern (AI)

Location: New York City, onsite Monday through Friday for the full Summer 2027 internship

What you will do

• Own a scoped machine learning project from problem framing through evaluation and integration with guidance from experienced engineers.
• Build Python data pipelines that clean, label, and structure NDT sensor data, documents, and operational records for model training and inference.
• Train, evaluate, and iterate on models using evaluations that reflect field usage.
• Integrate models or LLM-based workflows into services and tools for engineers and Forward Deployment Engineers.
• Investigate failure modes in messy real-world data, document findings, and recommend improvements.
• Use version control, code review, testing, and experiment tracking, then present project results and next steps.

Requirements

• Authorization to work in the United States is required.
• Ability to work onsite in New York, Monday through Friday, for the full Summer 2027 internship.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in computer science, electrical engineering, applied mathematics, physics, or a related technical discipline, with expected graduation between December 2027 and May 2028.
• Strong Python programming skills, including well-structured and tested code beyond notebooks.
• Coursework or project experience in machine learning, including training and evaluating models on real datasets.
• Working knowledge of linear algebra, probability, statistics, and Git, plus strong communication and independent learning skills.

Nice to have

• Graduate-level coursework or research in machine learning, signal processing, or computer vision.
• Experience building a pipeline, API, or tool around a machine learning model.
• Experience with LLM APIs, retrieval, information extraction, document understanding, time-series, sensor, ultrasonic, or acoustic data.
• Exposure to GCP, Docker, and industrial, defense, or infrastructure applications.
