Member of the Technical Staff - Data Platform (AI)

Location: United States; salary reference: San Francisco, CA

Salary: $232,000–$348,000 annual base pay; compensation may be adjusted outside San Francisco and may include benefits, equity, and bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Design and implement a next-generation data platform supporting batch and real-time integrations, advanced analytics, and multiple data types.
• Architect data solutions with engineering, product, and senior leadership teams, aligning technical strategy with product goals.
• Define standards for data ingestion, enrichment, storage, modeling, ETL, and data warehousing using Kafka, ClickHouse, Tinybird, and Snowflake.
• Build production-grade end-to-end systems while setting engineering standards and mentoring engineers.
• Partner with Security, Compliance, and Legal teams on data protection, governance, monitoring, alerting, high availability, and incident response.
• Develop architecture decisions and strategic roadmaps for data platform maturity and infrastructure supporting analytics and AI/ML workloads.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related roles, including at least 5 years at Principal Engineer level.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale data infrastructure in complex, fast-paced environments.
• Strong experience with Kafka and its ecosystem, ClickHouse, Tinybird, Snowflake, and broader big data frameworks.
• Proficiency with AWS, GCP, or Azure and related big data services.
• Strong background in data governance, security, regulatory compliance, and protection of sensitive information.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, mentoring, and technical leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Industry recognition or notable data engineering contributions, such as publications or open-source work.
