Digital Video Producer/Editor (Political News)

Location: Washington, DC; in-office position

Salary: $60,000–$63,000 per year, based on experience

What you will do

• Produce breaking-news video packages using material from press conferences, Congressional floor votes, and hearings.
• Set up livestreams for the website, YouTube, and OTT platform, and fill in as an OBS operator.
• Develop video series and standalone packages around relevant news and policy headlines.
• Collaborate with reporters, editors, and the programming team on videos covering news stories and investigations.
• Create compelling YouTube thumbnails and headlines.
• Respond quickly to changing stories while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced news cycle.

Requirements

• At least three years of video producing experience, including pitching and executing video packages.
• Strong news judgment, interest in politics, and ability to follow and interpret a fast-moving news cycle.
• Professional experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop.
• Understanding of audience engagement and the ability to use internal and competitive analytics.
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, television production, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to work nights and weekends and handle multiple tasks accurately.
