Mechanical Engineer IV (HVAC)

Location: Must be within commutable distance to Raleigh, North Carolina, or willing to relocate to the United States; hybrid schedule with three days per week in the office.

What you will do

• Lead the mechanical discipline scope, budget, design activities, and engineering deliverables across all project phases.
• Design HVAC, mechanical utility, plumbing, and piping systems, including load calculations, utility assessments, energy modeling, equipment selection, and specifications.
• Develop design reports, construction documents, plans, P&IDs, schedules, installation details, and code evaluations.
• Coordinate designs with architects, engineers, clients, construction managers, subcontractors, vendors, and manufacturers.
• Lead field surveys, construction administration, RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch lists, progress reporting, and quality checks.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and designers and lead mechanical teams on advanced projects.

Requirements

• ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical focus.
• At least 10 years of professional experience.
• Professional Engineer registration in good standing.
• Advanced experience with HVAC, mechanical utility, and piping system design and engineering calculations.
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, fire, and building codes.
• Ability to work in a hybrid schedule with three days per week in the Raleigh, NC office, or willingness to relocate.

Nice to have

• Experience in life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotech, laboratory, or food and beverage environments.
• Knowledge of GMP manufacturing environments and standards including ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISPE, FDA, ISO, NFPA, and OSHA.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and BIM tools; experience with Dynamo, Grasshopper, Rhino, Enscape, or Unifi.
• LEED, WELL, or another sustainable design accreditation, or experience with sustainable design.
• Experience with plumbing design, mechanical troubleshooting, field surveys, team coordination, and construction trade partners.
