Mechanical Engineer IV (Life Sciences)

What you will do

• Lead the mechanical discipline scope, budget, design activities, and engineering deliverables across all project phases.
• Design HVAC, mechanical utility, piping, plumbing, and related building systems, including calculations, utility assessments, energy modeling, specifications, plans, and P&IDs.
• Coordinate designs with architects, engineers, clients, construction managers, subcontractors, vendors, and manufacturers.
• Lead field surveys, construction support, RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch lists, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Perform quality checks, resolve non-compliant existing conditions, and ensure coordinated and constructible designs.
• Lead mechanical staff on advanced projects and provide mentorship and training to less experienced engineers and designers.

Requirements

• ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical focus.
• Minimum 10 years of experience and professional engineer registration in good standing.
• Advanced experience with HVAC, mechanical utility, piping system design, engineering calculations, and implementation.
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, fire, and building codes.
• Ability to coordinate advanced multidisciplinary projects and work with construction trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers.
• Ability to work from one of the listed U.S. locations and travel for client development, project execution, and training.

Nice to have

• Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, laboratory, or food and beverage environments, including GMP manufacturing.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and BIM software.
• Experience with LEED, WELL, sustainable design, ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISPE, FDA, ISO, NFPA, or OSHA standards.
• Experience with plumbing design, Revit plugins, and parametric workflows using Dynamo, Grasshopper, or Rhino.
