Patient Access Specialist - PRN

Location: Onsite at Bon Secours - Rappahannock General Hospital in Kilmarnock, Virginia; limited to individuals who reside and are authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

• Perform admitting, registration, and pre-registration activities for hospital patients.
• Assign accurate medical record numbers, process physician orders, collect demographic and insurance information, and provide patient instructions.
• Verify insurance eligibility, select appropriate plan codes, document benefits, and support point-of-service collections and clean claims.
• Explain consent, Medicare, Tricare, observation, and other required forms; obtain signatures and distribute patient education materials.
• Conduct medical necessity screening with ABN software and complete required documentation.
• Operate the telephone switchboard, audit accounts, and provide reporting data to Patient Access leadership.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience.
• Must demonstrate curiosity and openness to innovation, including AI-supported process improvements.
• CRCR certification required within 9 months of hire; certification is company-paid.
• Must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be able to work onsite at the hospital in Kilmarnock, Virginia.
