Systems Engineer II (Windows and Linux)

Location: Remote - North America

Salary: $79,200–$106,800 annual base salary, plus an annual target bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Monitor and maintain production systems, equipment, and services to support 24/7 application availability.
• Participate in a rotating weekend on-call schedule and resolve production incidents.
• Maintain network and systems configurations across multiple data centers.
• Develop system analysis, reporting, and task-automation tools.
• Plan and execute product deployments and enhancements while ensuring operational readiness.
• Mentor Systems Engineers and provide technical support to development, quality engineering, customer support, professional services, and vendors.

Requirements

• 5+ years of systems administration, hardware troubleshooting, and software troubleshooting experience.
• Strong Windows Server experience, including Server Core, and experience with CentOS/RHEL or Debian Linux.
• Experience with VMware ESX/ESXi, Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure supporting .NET or IIS applications.
• Experience with iSCSI SAN, RAID storage, log management tools such as ELK, Splunk, or Sumo Logic, and large server environments.
• Cloud experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP, plus scripting in PowerShell, C#, Python, or Batch.
• Previous on-call experience and experience with automation are required; SaaS or high-volume website experience is preferred.

Nice to have

• LDAP/Kerberos authentication with Microsoft Active Directory and NAS technologies such as FCP, CIFS, or NFS.
• Open-source project experience and configuration management with Ansible, Puppet, or CFEngine.
• Windows Failover Clustering, Hyper-V, System Center, Microsoft Endpoint Manager, PowerShell DSC, or Windows automation experience.
