AI Engineer Intern (Winter 2027) (AI)

Hourly pay: CAD 25.50–35.00

What you will do

• Design, build, and improve AI agents for engineering workflows, knowledge discovery, and developer productivity.
• Develop tools and API integrations for information retrieval, enterprise system interaction, and multi-step tasks.
• Contribute to user interfaces, backend services, and reusable platform capabilities.
• Experiment with prompts, context management, and agent workflows using tests and user feedback.
• Build automated tests and evaluation scenarios covering accuracy, reliability, safety, latency, cost, and task completion.
• Collaborate on feature delivery, code reviews, technical documentation, and troubleshooting while applying secure software development practices.

Requirements

• Education: actively enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language, such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, or C++.
• Understanding of data structures, modular design, debugging, and testing.
• Experience building software through coursework, personal projects, hackathons, open-source contributions, or internships.
• Basic familiarity with large language models and their capabilities and limitations.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and independent learning skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with LLM APIs, tool calling, structured outputs, or multi-step agent workflows.
• Familiarity with web applications, REST APIs, databases, and Git-based development.
• Exposure to knowledge retrieval, RAG, context management, or agent evaluation.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, containers, monitoring, or AI-assisted development tools.
