Senior Software Engineer - Platform Integration, Robot Software (Automotive)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, USA; hybrid role with hands-on work at international test locations

Salary: $209,000–$260,000 per year, plus equity package

What you will do

• Bring up new vehicle programs through bench, HIL, and on-vehicle integration activities.
• Design, develop, and maintain vehicle-facing software components and shared frameworks.
• Diagnose integration issues, implement fixes, and drive issues through resolution with relevant teams.
• Build tooling, diagnostics, metrics, documentation, and runbooks for reliability and maintainability.
• Collaborate with hardware, safety, controls, calibration, and reliability teams.

Requirements

• Production software development experience in C++, Python, and/or Rust.
• Experience developing and debugging Linux-based robotic or automotive platforms, including multi-process or distributed systems.
• Experience with ROS2 or similar robotics middleware, including node development, message interfaces, and system integration.
• Hands-on experience integrating software with vehicle or embedded hardware, including logs, telemetry, and on-target testing.
• Experience with vehicle sensors, calibration, synchronisation, data validation, automotive-grade compute platforms, CAN, and Automotive Ethernet.
• Strong systems-level debugging skills across software and hardware boundaries.

Nice to have

• Experience with drive-by-wire systems, safety-critical control interfaces, or functional safety concepts.
• Familiarity with Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, Kvaser, or similar automotive bus analysis tools.
• Experience building shared frameworks, libraries, or internal platforms used by multiple teams.
• Experience with HIL or simulation environments, observability, logging, metrics, and technical documentation.
