Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, Laser Processing & Precision Joining – NMPH – Fridley, MN (Onsite)

Location: Fridley, Minnesota, United States; onsite. Travel up to 25% is expected to support manufacturing partners and technology transfer.

Salary: $103,200–$154,800 per year, plus eligibility for a short-term incentive plan.

What you will do

• Develop and optimize laser welding, cutting, marking, texturing, resistance welding, and other precision joining processes.
• Lead feasibility studies, rapid prototyping, structured experimentation, and process characterization for early-stage products.
• Design and execute Design of Experiments, test methods, and process capability studies.
• Develop manufacturing solutions for miniature components, implantable assemblies, hermetic packages, and leads.
• Develop and troubleshoot hermetic sealing and helium leak-testing processes.
• Support tooling, fixturing, process transfer, manufacturing scale-up, and technology implementation with internal and external manufacturing partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, materials, welding, or related engineering with 4+ years of manufacturing engineering experience; alternatively, a master’s degree with 2+ years or a PhD with 0+ years.
• Hands-on experience with laser processing, resistance welding, precision manufacturing, joining technologies, or related advanced manufacturing methods.
• Experience developing manufacturing processes through structured experimentation, process characterization, and technical problem solving.
• Experience analyzing process performance and using data-driven approaches to establish process capability.
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required at hiring and throughout employment; sponsorship is not available for this senior-level role.
• Work is performed onsite in Fridley, Minnesota.

Nice to have

• Experience with laser ablation, micro-machining, parallel-gap welding, step-gap welding, or related laser-material processing.
• Experience with implantable medical devices, miniature assemblies, or regulated high-reliability products.
• Experience with weld and joint characterization, mechanical testing, microscopy, cross-sectional analysis, or dimensional inspection.
• Experience with hermetic sealing, helium leak testing, package integrity assessment, CAD/CAM, tooling and fixture design, new product introduction, or manufacturing transfer.
