Principal Design Engineer (Medical Devices)

Location: Eagan, Minnesota, United States; onsite at the corporate ADC location

Salary: $116,000–$174,000 annually, with bonus and/or incentive eligibility

What you will do

• Lead multidisciplinary teams researching, designing, and developing new products and technologies.
• Define design specifications, manage project timelines, and balance priorities across product development initiatives.
• Coordinate development from ideation through design verification, validation, 510(k) application, and product launch.
• Collaborate with customers, quality, regulatory, legal, manufacturers, and product divisions to support successful launches.
• Review existing products, identify improvement opportunities, and support design transfer, manufacturing implementation, and troubleshooting.
• Contribute to prototypes, technical drawings, intellectual property, and laboratory design-input verification and validation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, biomedical, electrical, or software engineering.
• At least 7 years of product design experience.
• Experience with SolidWorks, 3D modeling software, and prototype fabrication.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% for business purposes.
• Preferred experience includes medical device development, Class I–II requirements, design controls, risk assessments, 510(k) processes, and launching Class II devices.
• Preferred experience includes project management, Microsoft Project, multidisciplinary team leadership, injection molding, and other manufacturing processes.

Nice to have

• Certified SolidWorks Professional certification.
• At least 10 years of product design experience.
• Experience with polymers, textiles, medical equipment, or medical devices.
• At least one recognized patent invention.
