Software Engineer (Systems - C/C++)

Location: San Jose, California, United States; hybrid working environment with some in-office or in-person expectations

Salary: USD 113,050–168,300 per year, with final compensation based on location, qualifications, experience, and education.

What you will do

• Develop and sustain features for the ONTAP storage operating system.
• Participate in product development from definition and design through implementation, debugging, testing, and early customer support.
• Develop, test, and debug distributed software for cloud, hybrid-cloud, and on-premises solutions.
• Collaborate with QA, Systemic Test Engineering, dependent engineering teams, and peer engineers.
• Understand customer deployment scenarios, handle engineering escalations, and solve technical issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience, Master’s degree with no experience, or equivalent work experience.
• Hands-on experience with C and C++.
• Knowledge of Unix/Linux system programming and multithreaded programming.
• Strong understanding of operating system internals, algorithms, data structures, and sound software engineering practices.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including collaboration with teams outside engineering.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining software quality.
