Senior or Staff Accountant (Fintech)

Location: New York City, hybrid

Salary: $100,000–$130,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries; perform account reconciliations and flux analyses across balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Own NetSuite reporting, including custom reports, saved searches, and dashboards for finance and leadership stakeholders.
• Apply loan accounting standards for deferred fees and costs under ASC 310-20, transfers of financial assets under ASC 860, and CECL reserve calculations under ASC 326.
• Collaborate with Data, Risk, and Engineering to ensure accounting systems reflect business activity accurately.
• Support audits, internal controls documentation, regulatory reporting, and process improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including public accounting.
• CPA certification or active progress toward CPA licensure.
• Experience managing multiple close cycles in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with NetSuite ERP, including reporting, saved searches, and general ledger operations.
• Experience in financial services, fintech, or banking, including CECL, loan accounting, and financial asset transfers.

Nice to have

• Experience with Rippling for HR, payroll, and benefits accounting.
• Experience with Zip for procurement and spend management.
• Big Four or national firm audit experience with financial services clients.
• Familiarity with revenue recognition under ASC 606.
