Manager - Client Accounting Services

Location: US - Remote; department location: Chicago, Illinois

Salary: $115,600–$205,500 annually

What you will do

• Oversee outsourced accounting engagements and serve as the primary Controller or Accounting Manager for assigned clients.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and deliver accurate, timely financial reporting under GAAP.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements while analyzing results, trends, and variances.
• Improve accounting processes, internal controls, workflows, and operational efficiency.
• Manage client relationships, deliverables, timelines, engagement scope, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow activities.
• Lead, mentor, and develop engagement teams while collaborating with tax, audit, and advisory professionals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Five or more years of experience in public accounting, consulting, or outsourced accounting services.
• Two or more years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, and Controller or Accounting Manager responsibilities across multiple clients or business units.
• Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar ERP platforms.
• Strong project management, analytical, organizational, communication, and client service skills; ability to use AI and automation tools for business process improvement.

Nice to have

• CPA certification.
• Experience with system implementations, process transitions, or accounting clean-up projects.
