Senior Stress Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Belfast, United Kingdom; occasional travel within the UK.

What you will do

• Lead structural stress analysis and sizing of composite and metallic commercial aircraft structures.
• Evaluate static strength, fatigue life, damage tolerance, and finite element models.
• Support aircraft development, airworthiness certification, production, and in-service engineering.
• Compile, check, and approve stress certification reports, dossiers, and production drawings.
• Collaborate with Design, Loads, Materials, Manufacturing, Test, and other engineering disciplines.
• Support design reviews, structural test planning, systems integration, and Material Review Board approvals.

Requirements

• Minimum HNC in an engineering-related subject and at least three years of relevant stress engineering experience.
• Experience with classical stress analysis for static strength, fatigue, and damage tolerance.
• Finite element analysis experience using NASTRAN, PATRAN, or HyperMesh for composite and metallic materials.
• Experience writing technical reports and presentation materials.
• Experience checking or approving production drawings or stress analysis reports.
• Ability to work independently and interact effectively with engineers and stakeholders at all levels.

Nice to have

• Experience with hirify.global stress methods, ISAMI, Goliath, NASGRO, and hirify.global finite element modelling rules.
• Experience sizing primary structural components of commercial aircraft wings.
• Experience developing structural certification test requirements and validating finite element models.
• Previous Material Review Board approval experience for non-conformances or concessions.
• Previous hirify.global delegation across aircraft programmes, including the A220.
