Director, Finance and Accounting Operations

Location: CT - Hartford, United States

Annual base salary: $114,700–$189,200, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Lead and develop the six-person General Ledger Operations team, setting direction, managing performance, and building capability.
• Oversee monthly financial close activities and ensure timely, accurate financial results across business groups.
• Review complex journal entries, account reconciliations, financial activities, and financial data for consistency, accuracy, validity, and completeness.
• Consult with business partners, Technology, and Operations on organizational changes, mergers and acquisitions, and evolving business requirements.
• Approve recommendations and updates to financial systems, system tables, documentation, security access, foreign currency rules, and translation rules.
• Lead project planning, engage project teams, influence stakeholders, and certify controls in accordance with corporate standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field and eight years of professional experience in finance, accounting, or a related area.
• At least five years of related professional experience.
• Demonstrated people leadership experience, including talent development, performance management, and delivery of team results.
• Knowledge of financial systems and operations, data integrity, period-end close processes, and internal controls.
• Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and prioritization skills, with the ability to influence leaders and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and business intelligence platforms such as SQL.
