TL;DR
Senior Manager, Avionics and Power Systems (Aerospace Avionics): Developing avionics and power systems for human-rated space stations and next-generation satellites with an accent on systems architecture, fault management, and verification. Focus on leading cross-functional engineering teams, driving requirements and FMECA activities, and executing end-to-end validation and verification campaigns.

Location: Onsite in Long Beach, California, United States

Salary: $160,720–$261,900 USD per year

Develops human-rated space stations, satellite systems, and space infrastructure for government, corporate, and private customers, including the Haven station program and future crewed systems for the Moon and Mars.

What you will do

  • Hire, manage, mentor, and prioritize work for avionics and power systems engineers.
  • Establish program requirements and drive system-level architecture trades with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Own fault management strategies, operating modes, fault tolerance requirements, constraints, and system behaviors.
  • Lead FMECA, performance analysis, verification milestone definition, and vehicle-level verification campaigns.
  • Own the vehicle Interface Control Document and configuration control processes across hardware and software teams.
  • Coordinate with avionics, integration test, and vehicle systems engineering teams to execute verification events and support Final Verification Reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or another hard science.
  • 8+ years of post-bachelor’s experience working with aerospace avionics systems.
  • 2+ years of experience leading or managing cross-functional product development teams, including direct people management.
  • Strong experience with systems engineering, requirements analysis, verification and validation, documentation, and communication.
  • Must be a U.S. person under U.S. export control rules or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.
  • Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends during critical mission milestones.

Nice to have

  • End-to-end leadership of validation and verification campaigns.
  • Spaceflight heritage and experience with spaceflight operations or human spaceflight procedures.
  • Experience designing vehicle power systems for complex safety and fault-tolerance requirements.
