Tech Lead Manager (AI)

Location: On-site in San Francisco or New York City, United States

Salary: $230,000–$300,000 annually, depending on experience, plus equity, benefits, and an annual performance-based bonus of up to 30%.

What you will do

• Set objectives and priorities for an engineering pod and maintain focus as the roadmap changes.
• Own problem analysis, solution design, and architecture for the team’s area.
• Write and review production code, establish quality standards, and improve documentation.
• Manage, coach, and develop up to five engineers through feedback and career growth support.
• Partner with product, design, and client-facing teams to turn ambiguous customer problems into scoped work.
• Run hiring loops and contribute to improving engineering standards across the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional software development experience shipping production code.
• At least 1 year of direct people management or formal technical leadership experience, with a track record of developing engineers.
• Fluency in one or more backend languages, such as Python, Node.js, Java, or C/C++.
• Experience building, testing, and deploying microservices and developing distributed systems.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to remain hands-on with coding, design reviews, and production debugging.

Nice to have

• Experience with performance optimization, Next.js, or React.
• Interest in or experience with generative AI, including proprietary and open-source large language models.
• Experience with AWS, PostgreSQL, Docker, and ECS/Kubernetes.
