Electronic Health Record Data Engineer, Mid

Location: Bethesda, Maryland, USA. Remote work is available, with occasional in-person work at a Booz Allen or customer facility potentially required.

Salary: $62,000–$141,000 annualized USD.

What you will do

• Build, deploy, scale, monitor, and maintain data pipelines and platforms.
• Retrieve, parse, and process structured and unstructured data from disparate sources.
• Develop scripts and programs that convert hospital and EHR data into harmonized, analyzable formats.
• Design and operationalize ETL and ELT workflows for reporting and analytics.
• Develop real-time and near-real-time ingestion pipelines in collaboration with analysts, data engineers, developers, and data consumers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining enterprise-scale data applications.
• 3+ years of experience building scalable ETL and ELT workflows for reporting and analytics.
• Experience with Python, Java, SQL, Scala, NoSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
• Experience with Spark, Databricks, ADF, Hadoop, Hive, AWS EMR, Azure Event Hub and Grid, or Kafka.
• Experience with at least one public cloud platform: AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Bachelor’s degree and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination.

Nice to have

• UNIX or Linux experience, including Shell scripting.
• Experience with real-time data and streaming applications.
• Data warehousing experience with AWS Redshift, MySQL, or Snowflake.
• Experience with Agile engineering practices.
