Electronic Health Record Data Engineer, Senior (EHR)

Location: Remote, based in the United States; Bethesda, Maryland, USA. Occasional work at a Booz Allen or customer facility may be required.

Salary: $77,600–$176,000 annualized USD

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain scalable data platforms and applications.
• Develop ETL and ELT workflows for structured, unstructured, hospital, and electronic health record data.
• Build real-time and near-real-time ingestion pipelines.
• Convert healthcare and EHR data into harmonized, analyzable formats.
• Assess, monitor, operate, and scale distributed data platforms.
• Guide analysts, data engineers, developers, and data consumers in an agile environment.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in application development and enterprise-scale data applications.
• 5+ years of experience retrieving, parsing, and processing data and building scalable ETL/ELT workflows.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and developing real-time or near-real-time ingestion pipelines.
• Experience with Python, Java, SQL, Scala, NoSQL, MongoDB or Cassandra, and distributed data tools such as Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, Hive, AWS EMR, Azure Event Hub and Grid, or Kafka.
• Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination and meet client eligibility requirements. Bachelor’s degree required.

Nice to have

• UNIX/Linux and Shell scripting experience.
• Real-time streaming application experience.
• Data warehousing experience with AWS Redshift, MySQL, or Snowflake.
• Experience with Agile engineering practices.
