Software Engineer, Platform

Location: College Park, MD, USA. The company operates in a 100% distributed setting with no office.

Salary: $140,000–$200,000 per year plus bonus and stock, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Design, build, and own APIs for payments, subscriptions, authentication, consumption tracking, and the public TTS platform.
• Improve inherited services by making them faster, more cost-efficient, reliable, and resilient.
• Establish correctness before deployment and create automated checks that preserve it over time.
• Automate repetitive operational work and turn one-off solutions into repeatable team practices.
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations for customers building on the platform.
• Work with product, mobile, and web teams to keep backend architecture aligned with product growth.

Requirements

• Proven backend experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
• Direct experience with GCP and working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or another cloud platform.
• Experience using AI agents in a daily development workflow, including reviewing unattended work and defining limits on autonomous actions.
• Strong judgment around system verification, including checking logs, database state, and actual requests.
• Ability to explain technical trade-offs, remove unnecessary work, and accept corrective feedback.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker and containerized deployments.
• Experience deploying highly available applications on Kubernetes.

Hiring process

• Several technical interviews followed by a take-home assessment using a real codebase.
