Software Engineering Manager Senior (Fintech)

Location: In-office role based in Pittsburgh, PA; Dallas, TX; Birmingham, AL; Cleveland, OH; or Denver, CO.

Base salary: $123,200–$228,800 per year, plus incentive eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead and develop multiple engineering teams supporting customer-facing merchant technology platforms.
• Oversee delivery, operation, and continuous improvement of high-volume transaction processing systems.
• Drive Java application modernization and guide scalable, secure, and maintainable architecture.
• Partner with product, business, architecture, and operations stakeholders to align technology strategy with business objectives.
• Lead incident management, root cause analysis, remediation, and technology performance reporting.
• Manage staffing strategy, resource allocation, vendor relationships, technology investments, and engineering KPIs.

Requirements

• Experience leading large-scale software engineering teams and managing managers, technical leads, and engineering talent.
• Experience with high-volume, customer-facing transaction processing and mission-critical applications.
• Strong Java application development, distributed systems, resiliency, scalability, performance engineering, and operational excellence experience.
• Strong architectural judgment and experience leading multiple agile teams in a complex enterprise environment.
• Typically 8+ years of industry experience, at least 5 years of management experience, and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Employment visa sponsorship and STEM OPT participation are not available.

Nice to have

• Experience in payments, merchant acquiring, financial services, or high-volume transaction platforms.
• Experience with cloud-native architecture, container platforms, observability, and SRE practices.
• Experience modernizing legacy platforms and leading large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures, APIs, and distributed transaction processing.
