Bindery Operator 3 - Die Cutter

Compensation: $24.00–$35.00 per hour, plus a $4,000 sign-on bonus.

What you will do

• Set up, adjust, and operate auxiliary binding machines and specialized bindery equipment.
• Operate adhesive binding machines that process collated sheets and signatures into finished books, magazines, or catalogs.
• Coordinate multiple machine stations, including vibrating, milling, roughening, gluing, covering, delivering, and stacking operations.
• Inspect equipment for safety issues and make adjustments using hand tools and manufacturer-specific tools.
• Direct the production crew and monitor quality, output, and productivity.

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge of setting up, adjusting, and operating binding, folding, collating, and cutting equipment.
• Knowledge of paper machinability across different weights, sizes, types, and colors, including conditions requiring additional machine adjustments.
• Ability to use standard, specialized, and manufacturer-supplied tools to maintain bindery machine accuracy.
• Experience making difficult adjustments to powered machines using hand tools.
• Skill operating folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, and binding or gluing machines.
• Ability to read work instructions specifying machine-operation sequences and dimensional requirements.
