Equipment Engineer Spring 2027 Co-Op (Semiconductor)

Location: Albany, New York, United States. Onsite work may involve clean-room environments, confined or elevated areas, and occasional overnight travel to factories, training facilities, and customer locations.

Salary: $30.35–$40.60 per hour.

What you will do

• Design, procure, install, and test hardware modifications for experimental semiconductor reactors.
• Assemble and test electronic, electromechanical, mechanical, and measurement components.
• Develop test specifications, methods, procedures, and quality standards from technical drawings and diagrams.
• Support product enhancement and development for advanced film-deposition equipment.
• Prepare technical reports with findings and recommended solutions to technical problems.
• Collaborate with engineers, technical staff, and external vendors on products and services.

Requirements

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with hand tools and power tools for hardware assembly.
• Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical diagrams.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, technical, and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to lift or carry up to 35 pounds and work in awkward positions, confined areas, clean rooms, and around chemicals, electrical currents, high voltage, moving parts, or radiation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice to have

• Technical writing capability.
• Understanding of vacuum-system fundamentals and chemical-reactor hardware.
• Experience programming microcontrollers.
