Electrical Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op

Location: Bloomington, MN, United States; onsite production and lab environment. Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., January through June 2027.

Salary: $20-$30 per hour, depending on overall skills.

What you will do

• Support the build, testing, troubleshooting, and validation of electrical and electromechanical assemblies.
• Develop and refine manufacturing processes for electrical and mechanical subsystems, including equipment setup, calibration checks, test fixtures, and test procedures.
• Create, update, and maintain operator-friendly work instructions, engineering documentation, drawings, and revision-control records.
• Perform root-cause analysis, collect and analyze yield, scrap, and process-capability data, and support corrective and preventive actions.
• Conduct time studies, workflow analysis, process mapping, and lean manufacturing improvements using 5S, Kaizen, and standard work.
• Identify safety and ergonomic risks, recommend corrective actions, and collaborate with engineering, quality, operations, technicians, and operators during builds, pilot runs, and validation activities.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a co-op program and available to work 40 hours per week from January through June 2027.
• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related technical field; electrical engineering students graduating in Spring 2027 or later are preferred.
• Foundational knowledge of electrical circuits, components, and electromechanical systems, with the ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Experience with hand tools, measurement devices, multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and standard lab or test equipment.
• Ability to write, update, and follow technical documentation and use Microsoft Office for documentation and data analysis.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts, including 5S, standard work, and waste reduction.
• Experience troubleshooting manufacturing or assembly issues and working hands-on in a production or laboratory environment.
