Applications Engineer (Mixed Signal Audio)

Location: Edinburgh, UK; hybrid schedule with 2+ days per week in the office. Candidates must live within commuting distance or be willing to relocate before starting.

What you will do

• Provide engineering support to customers and field personnel throughout the product lifecycle.
• Lead customer design-in activities, including system bring-up, debugging, and production issue resolution.
• Perform root-cause analysis of complex system issues across hardware, firmware, and silicon.
• Develop application notes, white papers, demonstration boards, reference-design manuals, and demonstration platforms.
• Develop firmware, RTL modules, and advanced Python code for customer references and product demonstrations.
• Collaborate with IC Design, Systems, and Validation engineers on product definition, requirements, and customer use cases; travel about two weeks per year for customer support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and experience in the semiconductor industry.
• Understanding of I2C, SPI, USB, UART, I2S, and high-speed control or data buses.
• Experience with component selection, schematic entry, PCB layout, and circuit analysis.
• Proficiency in Verilog, C, Python, MATLAB, or a similar programming or scripting language.
• Proficiency with version control systems such as Git and hands-on experience with laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, signal generators, audio analyzers, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.
