Data Scientist (AI/ML)

Location: Hybrid working from London, Fareham or Swindon, United Kingdom

Salary: Up to £50,000 per year depending on experience, plus benefits.

What you will do

• Drive data-led decision-making across underwriting and non-underwriting areas of the business.
• Advise stakeholders on how data and AI can support strategy, practical requirements, and business outcomes.
• Apply AI/ML techniques to structured numerical data and use LLMs for unstructured data to reduce manual work.
• Develop and deploy machine learning algorithms, including supervised and unsupervised learning approaches.
• Design data requirements and core systems while promoting automation-first and high-quality data practices.
• Collaborate with international colleagues, communicate insights to technical and non-technical audiences, and contribute to code reviews and development standards.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Python, SQL, databases, Git, and modern software development practices.
• Experience working with structured and unstructured data, very large datasets, and distributed computing such as Spark.
• Commercial experience using LLMs, including managing and monitoring LLM-based applications.
• Experience with cloud technology, ideally Microsoft Azure or AWS.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, organisation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement from London, Fareham or Swindon.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of R or other programming languages.
• Knowledge of current UK AI/ML compliance and regulation.
• Experience with AWS SageMaker, Snowflake, or Databricks.
