Principal Customer Engineer (Digital Natives)

Location: Distributed; available location is Germany. Travel of up to 20–50% may be required for customer meetings, conferences, industry events, and in-person team collaboration.

Salary: €148,000–€204,000 annual salary for Germany-based hires, including on-target incentive compensation. Equity participation is also available.

What you will do

• Lead technical discovery, validation, Proofs of Concept, presentations, demonstrations, and architecture design for enterprise customers.
• Map customer infrastructure across DNS, CDN, Zero Trust, network security, and Workers to suitable hirify.global architectures.
• Design onboarding and migration blueprints, guide customer engineering teams, and reduce integration and deployment risks.
• Own technical customer health, adoption, renewal, expansion, and quota-linked commercial outcomes in partnership with Account Executives.
• Advise stakeholders on architecture, AI control layers, security posture, and deployment confidence throughout the customer lifecycle.
• Use AI agents, LLMs, internal platforms, and automation to streamline technical documentation, RFP responses, sandbox provisioning, and telemetry monitoring.

Requirements

• Experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, Professional Services, Sales Engineering, Technical Account Management, or Forward Deployed Engineering.
• Ability to design and clearly explain complex enterprise network and security architectures.
• Strong communication, presentation, consultative advisory, stakeholder management, and business-value translation skills.
• Experience in quota-carrying or revenue-aligned environments and familiarity with SaaS metrics and enterprise sales cycles.
• Depth in at least four technical areas, including Internet fundamentals, security, performance, AI proficiency, coding and scripting, or developer platforms.
• Business fluency in German is required.

Nice to have

• Experience creating technical workshops, code samples, documentation, or developer onboarding materials.
• Knowledge of LLM orchestration, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, and model-access controls.
• Understanding of PCI DSS, HIPAA, or SOC 2 requirements.
• Background in hyperscalers, digital-native companies, distributed systems, or startups.
