Senior Technical Design Architect (Storage)

Location: Tokyo, Japan; primarily in-office at the Tokyo office. Travel to customer sites in Japan and, when required, global sites.

What you will do

• Design, scope, review, and implement solutions for enterprise storage, data protection, migration, replication, clustering, virtualization, and disaster recovery/business continuity.
• Deliver complex projects as an individual contributor or technical lead, including high-level and low-level designs, installations, upgrades, expansions, integrations, testing, and operational handover.
• Advise Sales and customers on technical strategy, solution trade-offs, and integration with existing enterprise environments.
• Support post-sales Professional Services implementations and evaluate partner delivery proposals for quality, risk, and value.
• Develop practical automation using scripts, REST APIs, Infrastructure as Code, ITSM integrations, and workflow tools.
• Build and apply cloud-native data-service capabilities involving containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, OpenShift, KubeVirt, and Portworx-related delivery.

Requirements

• 5+ years of project delivery experience, including HLD/LLD, and 3+ years as a project manager, technical lead, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of hands-on enterprise infrastructure experience and 5+ years as a subject-matter expert or solutions architect, including 2+ years in a team-lead or equivalent role.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise storage protocols, virtualization, operating systems, networking, data-center migration, platform integration, data protection, replication, DR/BCP, and cybersecurity.
• More-than-basic understanding of cloud-native technologies and a willingness to deepen practical capability in delivery work, including Portworx projects.
• Experience with scripting using Python, PowerShell, or Perl, plus REST APIs; experience with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure is preferred.
• Business-level English proficiency is required, and the role is expected to be performed from the Tokyo office. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is required.

Nice to have

• Hands-on cloud-native experience and experience with cloud-native data services or Portworx.
• Infrastructure as Code, workflow orchestration, monitoring, IAM, authentication, or ITSM integration experience.
• FlashArray, FlashBlade, or Pure Storage experience.
• ITIL, PMP, storage, cybersecurity, cloud, or cloud-native certifications.
• A graduate degree.
