Footwear Product Developer, Asia

Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; on-site

What you will do

• Manage multiple footwear development projects from briefing through design, development, costing, and commercialization.
• Coordinate seasonal development calendars to deliver sales samples, product confirmation, and commercialization on time.
• Engineer and manage prototypes while reviewing outsole, midsole, and upper blueprints, patterns, materials, and technical documentation.
• Maintain technical packages including blueprints, upper pattern packages, color maps, and project specifications.
• Work with pattern engineering, mold shop, sample room, costing, materials, design, engineering, and production partners to resolve issues and meet quality and FOB targets.
• Communicate with US product teams and material vendors to execute performance, aesthetic, costing, and quality requirements.

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant footwear product development experience, including 1+ year working with athletic footwear.
• Degree in a post-secondary discipline preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
• Working knowledge of footwear creation, manufacturing processes, cost engineering, and costing implications.
• Strong logical reasoning, root-cause analysis, problem-solving, organization, and independent work skills.
• Fluent English communication skills in speaking and writing for collaboration with US headquarters, factories, and cross-functional partners.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Nice to have

• Experience with flexPLM, MS Project, or Illustrator.
• Knowledge of current footwear trends and advanced manufacturing techniques.
