Payroll Manager

Location: US remote or Nashville hybrid

What you will do

• Review and audit payroll for accuracy and completeness, resolving discrepancies before payroll finalization.
• Manage internal and external payroll audits.
• Manage quarterly and year-end US payroll tax filings and compliance requirements.
• Work with state agencies to resolve tax discrepancies.
• Recommend procedures to improve payroll operations, controls, automation, and efficiency.
• Participate in payroll system testing and enhancements while supporting the payroll administrator and global payroll activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
• 7+ years of professional payroll experience.
• Experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms, including at least 2 years of Workday experience.
• Strong knowledge of US payroll labor laws and payroll tax requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and exercise sound judgment.

Nice to have

• Experience working with payroll vendors for international payroll.
• Experience with payroll systems other than Workday.
