Senior Platform Engineer (Azure FinOps)

Location: Hybrid, based at one of the following US locations: Vienna, Virginia; Pensacola, Florida; or Winchester, Virginia. Work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Salary: $114,500-$179,500 annually.

What you will do

• Lead Azure FinOps strategy, including cost forecasting, budgeting, optimization, and financial accountability.
• Manage Azure billing administration, reservations, compute savings plans, cost allocation, and rate optimization.
• Develop dashboards and tooling to monitor cloud spend and identify savings opportunities.
• Analyze usage patterns and recommend architectural improvements such as right-sizing, automated decommissioning, and shutdowns.
• Contribute to platform engineering through automation, infrastructure as code, cloud governance, and roadmap execution.
• Collaborate with engineering, finance, procurement, and cloud vendors while training teams in cost-management practices.

Requirements

• US work authorization without current or future sponsorship is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of cloud engineering experience, including 3 years focused on Azure FinOps or cloud cost management.
• Strong knowledge of Azure services, pricing models, usage optimization, Azure Cost Management + Billing, Azure Advisor, and FinOps tools.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using ARM templates, Bicep, or Terraform.
• Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and independent problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• FinOps Certified Practitioner or a similar certification.
• Experience with enterprise-scale financial operations, Azure Policy, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, or Identity Governance.
• PowerShell or Python scripting experience.
• Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud governance framework experience.
• Exposure to Azure Synapse, Databricks, or Microsoft Fabric.
